Twisting and turning our way to Lechlade

We arrived in Lechlade early this afternoon after a couple of days of pleasant cruising through remote farmland and woodland. We have almost reached the limit of navigation on the Thames and tomorrow we will start our long journey towards London.
Northmoor Lock
Much of the river over the last couple of days has twisted and turned, often almost doubling back upon itself which can be interesting with 60' (sorry I mean 59') of narrowboat, but fortunately there have been very few other boats about at all.
An old bridge at Newbridge. 13th century.
We spent yesterday evening at the delightfully named Tadpole Bridge, and ate at the lovely Trout at Tadpole Bridge pub, which is the Oxfordshire dining pub of the year for 2013 & 2014. We had a wonderful three course meal there.

Our mooring at Lechlade
This afternoon we have had a wander into Lechlade which is a really pleasant town with some interesting shops. We spent a comfortable couple of hours in the 16th century Old Swan Inn before returning back to the boat and a close up meeting with our neighbours !!
